you're meant to be here

like right here, right now!

I know this because I think there may be part of you that knows deep down you are struggling to keep it all together with racing food thoughts, endless food rules, and constant self criticism....

And I'd like to hold space for that part of you right here on my blog.

My favorite quote is an old Swedish proverb that says, "joy shared, joy doubled; sorrow shared, sorrow halved." So linger a while here and let's double some joy and halve some sorrow.

knowing vs. *knowing* that eating your fear food is okay

I spent yesterday baking my favorite cookies and listening to Christmas music. It was glorious. My favorite Christmas cookies are these molasses spice cookies that are from my “Silver Spoon Cookbook.” It’s the cookbook I watched my mom cook and bake from every single day growing up that her mom collected and hand wrote all […]

what you don’t know about your weight

What you don’t know about your weight is that it is pretty useless information. Especially considering how much time we spend thinking and attempting to change it. Knowing a person’s body weight is important for documenting a child’s development, prescribing medications like anesthesia, or calculating tube feeds. That is close to being it. In fact, the […]

caprese stuffed chicken

At least once a day I reminisce about my trip to Italy 2 years ago. Yes, it was just that magical. Every day was filled with gelato and Tuscan wine. And most days included a simple, yet mindblowing, Margherita pizza. I was truly living THE dream. In Spain, I recently tried pan con tomate, bread with […]

what’s normal eating

Sugar-free, gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free, wheat-free, caffeine-free, fat-free, GMO-free, carb-free, soy-free, salt-free. Those all sound not only fun-free but mental-sanity-free. And sure, there are allergies and intolerances to certain foods. However, eliminating foods to be hip wid it or in hopes to lose weight is harmful. It’s also unsustainable. Dieting is one of the top risk factors for […]

the greatest chocolate chip cookie you’ll ever have

Yup, you read that right. This cookie (and its dough, if you’re a daredevil like me and risk the salmonella) is guaranteed to rock your world. It’s my tried and true, my favorite, and my formerly secretive recipe. It’s my recipe my dad asks me NOT to make so he doesn’t feel compelled to eat all two dozen. […]

how to get back on track

It’s Monday. Maybe this past weekend you “let yourself go” or you “cheated” a lot and now you’re wanting to get back on track. First of all, I am all for fresh starts. They can be so refreshing and exciting! But I think it’s important to point out that a healthy eating pattern shouldn’t cause […]

cheesy pesto pasta

I am not a big fan of Mondays. But I am a big fan of 10-minute dinners…especially on Mondays. Every Monday, I try to eat meatless. Mostly because I am a sucker for alliteration #MeatlessMonday. But going without meat on Mondays has other benefits too. First of all, plant sources of protein are usually less […]
